Hyundai Sonata Named 2011 International Car of the Year

The ICOTY (International Car of the Year) jury convened at
the North American International Auto Show to determine Car- and
Truck of the Year winners. Comprised of 12 nationally-renowned
automotive journalists, the jury selected the 2011 Hyundai Sonata
as the most emotionally compelling car for the new model year. The
Car of the Year trophy was thereby presented to John Krafcik, U.S.
CEO, Hyundai."While we're proud of the Sonata from a technical and
engineering standpoint, this award addresses the fact that our cars
are now the sorts of vehicles that appeal to the lifestyle set,"
said Krafcik upon receiving the award. "With sales up more than 110
percent from last year, the Sonata and its all four-cylinder lineup
has been a gamechanger for us and we're thrilled to be recognized
by the ICOTY awards."1The ICOTY Awards were founded in 1996 with a
unique theme created to recognize automakers that successfully
design and market their vehicles to consumer lifestyles. Presenters
of the Truck of the Year award included jury members: Courtney
